PBIS
Positive Behavior Intervention System
- Verplanck has a Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) that is based on a tiered framework of support for our scholar’s behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health.
- Expectations around PBIS are taught explicitly by all staff to scholars through lesson plans targeting different spaces in the school such as classrooms, cafeteria, halls, bus, and bathrooms.
- The tiered behavior system is based on our Core Values here at Verplanck: (move Core values things to here)
- Please take a look at an example in the matrix below:
-
We Are Responsible: We take ownership of our actions, follow through on commitments, and make thoughtful choices to create a safe and productive environment.
-
We Are Respectful: We treat others with kindness, value their perspectives, and show consideration for everyone in our school community.
-
We Are Rising: We strive for continuous growth, embrace challenges, and work hard to reach our full potential together.
Our scholars are reminded daily of these values throughout their day as they connect with all the elements of what it means to be part of the Verplanck School community. We start each day with a reminder of our Core Values to remind scholars to be the best they can be!
Pawsitive Office Referrals
Great Way to Celebrate Responsibility at School!
Our students can now be formally recognized for their positive behavior choices during the school day through the use of the positive office referral. Teachers and staff may complete these referral forms, and scholar's will be recognized by the principal. Parents are also notified of their scholar's referral with a letter that is sent home.

Scholar Of The Week- We would like to celebrate a scholar from your classroom each week who shows the Three R's- Respectful, Responsible, and Rising. We know how excited the Scholars were last year, and we want them to see and feel that we are proud of them each and every day.
Parent Paws
We encourage parents to recognize their scholar's positive behavior choices at home with Parent Paws!
